Leadership Series: Tim Walsh

At Civix, our clients are driven by the millions they serve.  In turn, we’re driven to ensure they have the best solutions to support their work. We want to help bring innovative ideas to a public sector that faces significant challenges. When we help our clients succeed, it enables them to make a positive impact in the lives of the people they serve.  This partnership doesn’t work without great people.

Meet Tim Walsh, President, Critical Infrastructure

Where is home?
New Orleans

Where did you go to school?
University of North Dakota

Tell us about your work at Civix?
I lead a great team of product and technical experts that deliver mission critical software to airports and utilities. My position allows me to be creative in the development of new software products that we bring to market. I enjoy collaborating with our team of experts in setting a strategy and then executing a plan to achieve our goals. This includes identification of new markets for our products and then establishing a plan to penetrate and be successful.

What are you most proud of?
The CI team’s ability to execute on our strategy to enter two new markets (Public Sector & Transit) last year and the resulting contracts in 2021. This is a game changer for our business and will accelerate our growth outside of the core airports and utilities business.

What is your professional interacting style?
I like to try and meet 1:1 with each employee in the BU once a year. The opportunity to speak with everyone provides me insight and perspectives that are difficult to gather during all hands or division meetings. This is especially important during COVID where we don’t have the opportunity to see each other in the office. I meet with my leadership team 1:1 weekly and as a team once a week to keep things moving. I use email to manage my work which is good and bad. This question is best posed to my teammates. 🙂

What are your strengths?
Ability to set a strategy and then execute with a talented team. I love finding new opportunities and identifying win themes that stretch the team to win.

What is a fun fact about you?
I recently took up bass fishing and surprisingly love the challenge of landing a large one.
