Civix Releases Guide for Meeting HUD Equity Requirements

As communities across the country continue to grapple with racial and social inequity, the federal government has taken steps to address these challenges by implementing equity requirements for recipients of Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) grants. While these requirements are designed to promote fairness and inclusivity, they can be complex and difficult to navigate for grant recipients.

To help HUD grantees meet these federal equity requirements, Civix grant management experts developed a guide outlining how to incorporate equity into grant programs. This resource covers everything from the basics of equity to six steps that grantees can use to operationalize equity goals throughout program design and implementation.

The guide is intended to be a valuable tool for HUD CDBG-DR grantees of all sizes and types, including community-based organizations, housing authorities, and state and local governments. It provides practical tips and best practices for incorporating equity into all aspects of federally funded disaster recovery programs, including planning, implementation, and evaluation.

By using this guide to meet federal equity requirements, HUD grantees can not only ensure compliance but also make a meaningful contribution to advancing programmatic equity. Whether you’re a seasoned grantee or just starting out, this guide is an essential resource for anyone looking to create more equitable and just communities.
