Proud Partner in Rebuilding California: Celebrating Workforce Development for Wildfire Recovery

Civix client, the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), announced $40.7 million in CDBG-DR Workforce Development program grants focused on post-disaster economic recovery. These awards will provide communities in Butte, Lake, Los Angeles, Shasta, and Ventura Counties with specialized job training programs and economic supportive services as they continue to rebuild after the devastating 2018 wildfires.

Civix provides HCD with end-to-end grants management services, including supporting the development of CDBG-DR Workforce Development programs from conception to closeout.

“Being involved in each phase of an award’s lifecycle makes you fully appreciate the impact of these milestones,” said Adrienne Duncan, Director of Community Planning & Resilience at Civix. “We are proud to have partnered with HCD on the design and now launch of these programs and look forward to continuing our support through the implementation of these critical investments.”

Highlights include:

  • The creation of Paradise RISE, which will train 500 residents in construction and healthcare careers.
  • Innovative programs in Lake County and Ventura County focusing on wildfire resilience and healthcare workforce development.
  • Training initiatives in Los Angeles and Shasta Counties that open pathways in trades, emergency response, and more.
